There are countless "Alejandros" in my family. Alejandro being the name of my great grandfather. He then named one of his sons (my uncle) Alejandro, and my my father was named Alexis ( a simple variant). My father in turn, named his first son Alexis...and Alexander, his second. My uncle Alejandro didn't even bother with the variants: He named his first son Alejandro, and named his second son...Alejandro. My auntie Carmella, named one of her kids, Alex. My cousin Niurka named one of her kids Alejandro. My cousin Manny named his son, his only son, Alexander. A couple of weeks ago, my cousin Alex had a son. Would you want to guess what he named him? Yes, J. Alexander, of course.

There are those who still believe the Canetti family to be filled with
original ideas.

I have to admit that Alejandro was my first choice when I was pregnant
with my first child. There was warrior-like resistance from my husband
then. So I opted for Ares. My father, reluctantly accepted this name,
but still finds it difficult to pronounce the name as "Ares" and not "Arex".
